politics.......

This is a topic I rarly discuss because it's such a debated issue. But last night we watched the Republican debate on CNN, I have been confused as to who I should give my vote to. After watching the debates last night I am a lot more clear on who I won't be giving my vote too.

I want to say that I was incredibably ashamed to watch Mitt Romney last night. He was evasive on some of his answers. He stumbled a lot. I can not believe that he was pro choice and would like to see gays serving in the military openly. Both of those issues go againsts some of the core Republican beliefs. Not only that but he is a member of the LDS church, as am I, those topics, pro choice, our church is strongly for pro life, and condons any homosexual acts. I was shocked to see his stance on those issues even though he said he his pro life now he was not in the past. That came from his own lips.

My main reason for even blogging about this is because I feel that we shouldn't vote for someone just because of their religious affilation, whether we agree with it or not. I feel that a lot of LDS members will vote for Romney because he is a member of their faith. I have struggled with this since finding out that Romeny was running for President. I felt like since he was LDS that was were my vote should go. However, it doesn't mean he is the right person for the job. As I now see that from watching the debates last nights.

I feel that we aren't going to agree with a canidate 100% on all his policies but we should vote for the one that we agree with 90% of the time.

And I wanted to just say that was not impressed with, Ron Paul. His ideas about the war are wrong. I think he's blowing a lot of smoke and just telling people what they want to hear.

Or Rudy Gulliani, I liked some of what he had to say but he won't get my vote.

John McCain has the best background when it comes to our military and leading them to victory.

I was extremely impressed with Mike Huckabee.

I also like Fred Thompson.

Right now I am not sure who I am voting for but I do know that I won't be voting for someone because of where they go to church. I'll vote for the person that I feel has the right ideas on getting this country back on it's feet.

My main concerns are, imigration, the war on terror, social security, my rights to bear arms, and taxes. While some of the other things are important these are the things I am going to look for as to whos policies I agree with on these issues.

How about you?

ROFL! I just had to laugh at that last comment- "Bill and Hill 2008"!!!

ANYWAYS, we are sooo conservative here and love to watch all of the debates. I too like Mike Huckabee but I do like Mitt Romney as well, but not because he's LDS. I've watched all of his debates and am very impressed with him. Right now, CNN is in hot water for the debate they put on. All of the people asking questions have been proven liberal and were just out for all of our republican candidates. They did not make it fair. If you watched the democratic debate they threw them "sissy" questions and didn't try to play hardball in the least! Now, the more conservative stations, like Fox news, would love to host a debate but the democrats will refuse to go. Figures. As to Mitt Romney. I understand why he was "for" the views that he was. He was running in a VERY democratic state and had to tweek his views to get in. He has ALWAYS been pro-life but when he ran for office he was pro for the women making the choices, but still did not agree with abortion. I guess it's like what Rudy is saying right now, only Rudy would actually make abortion legal.

Sorry, I went off on a little tangent. SP? Good luck on your decision! I applaud you for doing your research instead voting for "faces".
