getting back into the swing.......

I started running about a week ago. I ran a little in the gym on a treadmill a long time ago. That was when I spent 2 hrs a day 5x a week in the gym. Since I gained back all the weight I lost while DH was gone I figured I needed to do something about it. Running is a quick way to shed some pounds for me and I'd really like to train for a 5k.

A friend was selling her double jogging stroller at a great price so I took it off her hands. While DH has been off I've been running by myself every other day. But this morning I took Spice out in the stroller and tried to run. It's much HARDER to run while pushing that stroller. I was going for the mile but could barly get the 1/2 mile. I stopped a few times to walk it off. I had just gotten myself up to running the entire 1/2 mile looks like I'm going to have to work up to it with the stroller. And that was just with one of the girls.

It is amazing how great I feel after a run though. That's what I tell myself as I run and I want to quit. How much better I will feel and look if I just keep this up.

city living

I forgot to mention I now know what it's like for people that live in the city. You know the one's that live in the high rise apartments. Yesterday, the girls and I made a run to the Nex and Commissary. When we got back I had to quickly think of how we'd get ourselves and our purchases up to the room. Josh's room is on the second floor and there are no elevators.

My solution was to put Avery in the Ergo on my back and proceed to carry the bucket I had gotten for the few toys we got them to play with. There were a few bags in the bucket, multi tasking the carrying. I climbed the 2 flights of stairs put the bucket and my bag in the room turned around with both kids walked back down the stairs across the street to where we are parked got the other 2 bags and a box of soda and walked back up the 2 flights of stairs with Avery on my back and Aynslee following happily behind me. I think by adding those 27 extra pounds to my load up the stairs a few times I day by the time I get home I'll be in shape. : )

i feel the burn

In an effort to try once again to get back into shape. I really can't keep blaming the extra pounds on baby #2 since she's getting close to 20months. I started working out at home again. In stead of just cardio which I really do need, I am making more of an effort to do some strength training. Josh had gotten me a balance ball and some very nice adjustable weights for Christmas since that's what I asked for.

Let's just say I am seriously out of shape. Or I just worked myself out really good. I think the first is more accurate though. However; feeling the soreness of those muscles makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body.

So while I was picking up a book that I had on hold at the library I also picked up 4 work out DVD's to try. Now I just have to make the time, which this week has been while the girls are napping. It's working out fairly well. I just have to make myself at least 3 times a week. Hopefully once I get into a habit of it it will get easier no excuses not to.

Shimmy

I am trying something. It's called, "Shimmy" and it's on FIT TV it's a new exercise program. Belly dancing. It's a lot harder than it looks. I record the episodes then do them later preferably when Avery is taking her morning nap. As I learn on Monday it's not pleasant when she's awake. I must get back into shape at this point losing weight would be the bonus but my arms, legs and other extremities need some serious toning. I miss the days of spending 2 carefree hours in the gym 5 days a week. But I am determined to do something about it even if it is a slow process.

My goal is 3 times a week. That's not a lot it's doable. Some kind of cardio then a little weight training and some abs. I can do this, I can do this. I really need to do this for myself not for anyone else so I don't feel like an frumpy out of shape mommy.

Now for some random thoughts

Ok so I intended on staying home today to get my house cleaned for tomorrow and bake a pie. But it's nearly noon and I have not even started on the cleaning or the baking. I am washing a load of laundry. Does that count?

I am having trouble getting motivated to clean this mess of a house that is always a mess no matter how many hours I spent picking up and straighten. It's hard being the only one that does this and it gets old.

Yes, there is a trip to the library and grocery store for the day. I told Aynslee we could go get some books. And I need bread, milk not to mention a few other things that can't be put off. Hopefully, the store I plan on going to won't be to crowded. I will have to pay more for the items but less of a crowd is worth a little more money. Right? I almost forgot a trip to the bank.

My tummy is telling me that it's time to eat some lunch.

Until next time..............
