BodyAttack
This morning I went with a friend to the YMCA to workout. First time I've ever been to one ,loved the kidzone. That alone would be worth joining, childcare for free basically. I haven't done an aerobics class in years. I use to be in the gym 5-6 days a week 2 hours at a time and at least 1 of those hours was spent in some kind of class. I forgot home much I miss that. Although I did feel a little out of place since all the other ladies in the class were "in shape" but it was fun all the same. Burning 1000 calories is definitly a great incentive. I'm hoping to get back into the gym after school starts a few times a week. I know it would jump start the weight loss. I can't go out running in my neighborhood anymore because of my hips, eliptical running only.

Visalus
Recently I found out about a product from Visalus Sciences. It's a meal replacement shake loaded with vitamins and minerals. Plus has all the nutrients from a daily serving of fruits in veggies in one shake.
I started my 90 day challenge on Thurs and have lost 4.6 lbs. The shakes taste great and are very filling. I add frozen fruits to mine to make it extra tasty. But the shakes alone taste like vanilla icecream.

Eat your dinner!
Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you to clean your plate. At our house we've never enforced that rule because of Sugar's senory issues, we've been making them seperate things if we are eating something they don't like.
I finally decided that if Sugar is ever going to get over her food adversions that I need to stop doing this. So they either eat what we eat for dinner or go hungry. I think a lot of her trouble is self induced. Sometimes she gages before she even puts it in her mouth. My only requirement with both of them is just taste it. I have gotten her to taste and eat stew meat and turkey burger. A lot of nights she goes to bed with barely eating anything but I feel like we have a better grasp on dinner time. The battles are becoming less now that she knows what we expect of her at dinner time.
Spice has always eaten better than her big sister but I still have a time with her. For some odd reason she wouldn't eat potatoes from our pot roast dinner the other night but loves mashed potatoes and baked potatoes and of course french fries. I was pleased as punch to watch her eat some roast on Sunday. Even the putting the carrot to her lips was a big step.
I always said before I had kids that I would not feed them fast food or junk food. That all changed when I had a child that had trouble with food. It took Sugar a long time to even taste a french fry and 2 weeks of therapy to eat a cheeto. Now of course it's all she asks for, but recently making the decision for myself to eat healthier foods will hopefully have a positive impact on their food choices. I'm also a picky eater but there are foods that are good for me that I like so if I can just get them to eat those foods with us I'll feel better about what they eat. Hummas is one of mine and Spices favorite snacks, even if it's with pita chips if we limit the pita chips to a serving size it's better than a bag of potato chips or cookies.
How do you get your kids to eat healthy foods?
Is dinner time a battle at your house?

weigh in week 6
loss 1.4 total 8.0 pounds
I was shocked that I had a loss this week. I haven't been doing all that great with my food choices. I start the day on program but most often by dinner time I haven't counted for the day or I have eaten foods that aren't with in my points value.
But I'll take it, slow and steady as Mary commented last week. That leaves me with 2 more pounds for my goal of 10 by Memorial Day. This makes me hopeful that I can not only make that goal but maybe surpass it by a few pounds. That would be great!
Based on a healthy weight loss of 1 pound per week I should be able to hit my goal of 40 pounds in 8 months. As I lose though I will see if that loss is an adequte amount for me 35 might be a better amount considering that I am 30. I have come to realize that 112 pounds at 18 might have been ok but might not be ok for me now. As long as I am healthy and eating the right foods weighing in the upper 120's would be ok. And I'd be happy with that considering that I have been over weight for the last 6 years.

weigh in week 4
Loss 1.8 pounds total loss=5.6
I took a break in posting last week because I was really bad Easter weekend. I was able to recover the gain last week and loose most of it. I have to get really serious this week and be extra careful about not cheating to much. I allow myself a little treat here and there but I would like to be down 10 pounds by Memorial day. For that to happen I need to buckle down, this week I am hoping to get some exercise in to really help me with my goal.

weigh in week 2
Loss this week, 2.0 pounds, total loss 5.8 pounds.
This week I will start my exercising. I am just setting a goal of 3x a week. If I can find the time for more then great. I know the key is to get moving so any amount of activity is the right step forward. Maybe I can get myself that double jogger I have been wanting so I can take the girls on walks since the weather will be getting nicer. There is a track on base that would be great to get to a few times a week as well. I'd like to start running again.

weigh in week 1
Total loss for the week= 3.8 pounds.
A great first week. I am feeling better. Although throughout the week I have often wonder why the heck did I stop doing this, it really is simple.
I purchased the Biggest Loser Boot Camp at home workout DVD from Sam's. When I attended the meetings the leader encourged the newbies to wait until their 3rd week to start with exercise so that's what I am going to do this time. This will give me a few extra points for the day. Honestly I don't want anymore points, some days like yesterday I find it hard to eat all of my allowed points.
Fruits are typically 1 to 2 points per serving but I am not a big fruit eater. Raw veggies are zero points and I find myself loading down my salads with raw broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, and mushrooms. So getting my vegetable servings in a day doesn't seem to be a problem for me. I will have to work on the fruit as I start to exercise.
I am really liking using the Weight Watcher meals. After I feed the girls their dinner I just open the freezer and pick something out. The points vaule is already on the box so I just write it down in my journal. The meals are usually pretty tasty, some better than others. I think the way I am doing program this time is similar to Jenny Craig or Nutra System only I am not paying a crazy about of money for food or weekly fees.
I am just hoping that this becomes so automatic that staying with it to maintain will be easy this time even after Josh gets home. I'll just cook our meals from my Weight Watcher cookbooks then.

on the Weight Watchers wagon again.....
I am offical back on Weight Watchers. I got all of my food for this week and probably most of next week. I decided to not go back to meets just yet. After we had Aynslee, Josh and I did the program at home and were really successful. Once I get going on program I am pretty good about sticking to it. It's just getting myself in that mind set and not wavering.
My goal is 40 pounds which will put my back at what I weighed when we got married. I wasn't able get shake 10 pounds after I had Avery and then I put 10 more on over the last year.
Since I don't have to cook while Josh isn't home I am going to be eating the Smart One's meals from Weight Watchers or the Michalina Lean Meals. They are low points and are a $1.00 at the commissary, for my lunches I be eating either sandwiches with light bread with raw veggies or big salads. The other reason I decided to start out this way is because it's easier for me not to cheat everything will be portion controlled for me and the points are on the boxes of the meals. I even got some Caffiene Free Diet Dr Pepper. I'll treat myself every so often with a real deal one.
My weigh in days will be on Monday's so I'll try to post about my progress weekly.

i feel the burn
In an effort to try once again to get back into shape. I really can't keep blaming the extra pounds on baby #2 since she's getting close to 20months. I started working out at home again. In stead of just cardio which I really do need, I am making more of an effort to do some strength training. Josh had gotten me a balance ball and some very nice adjustable weights for Christmas since that's what I asked for.
Let's just say I am seriously out of shape. Or I just worked myself out really good. I think the first is more accurate though. However; feeling the soreness of those muscles makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body.
So while I was picking up a book that I had on hold at the library I also picked up 4 work out DVD's to try. Now I just have to make the time, which this week has been while the girls are napping. It's working out fairly well. I just have to make myself at least 3 times a week. Hopefully once I get into a habit of it it will get easier no excuses not to.

fitness is fun
So after my yearly exam at the doctors office, the one were I was chastised for not exercising, I have started working out again. I devot an hour in the morning, while Seseme Street is on, to myself just for this.
Once I get myself into the habit of it I really enjoy working out but it's just making myself. I am also making an effort to eat breakfast. Either a bowl of cereal or toast, just something light within the first hour of getting up. That I learned from weight watchers when I was going to meetings. Still having a little trouble with a few other things but I feel like the small changes I am making or better than none. And hopefully over time I can make more small changes until finally I have redirected myself into a healthier life style.
Something I started doing a few weeks ago is going to the library and checking out workout DVD's. I get bored easy with my workout routine. I have several workout videos but some of them I don't like, some I have done some many times I know all the words. This is helping me keep to my goal so far. They are FREE anyway for a week. I can always check the same one out for another week if I want to, and they have a pretty large selection at the branch we go to on Weds for preschool story time. So I get 2 a week and use them until they are due back then get 2 more and I am not getting bored. It's actually fun and it's keeping it all interesting enough for me.
This morning I did a 45 minute salsa, kick boxing, carido sweat by Crunch Fitness. It was really good and it had a bonus 5 minute ab session. My abs really need some work after neglecting them for so long. They haven't been themselves since Avery was born.
After my work out and I got us all dressed we met our playgroup at the bowling alley for a farwell to a few friends that are moving away. We will miss them. Aynslee had such a good time. It was her first time bumper bowling. She loved it. We are going to have to take her at the one on base as a family day activity. She really enjoyed it.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

resolutions
So I have been pondering my resolutions for the new year, then I read a post that Chris has up at her new blog. It got me thinking go over and read it.
Here is my short list in case any of you are wondering.
1. becoming more green
This one I will elaborate on, for me this means taking small steps to help out. I am not going to go all crazy with it. One thing we have done is bought reusable bags for shopping. This makes Josh happy because he won't have to see piles of plastic bags shoved into places. I am also trying to eliminate the use of disposable diapers. gDiapers is a wonderful alternative. I'll be honest in saying we didn't start out cloth diapering because of the environment. It was to save money. That's why we will only use the gDiapers on occasion, like traveling, nighttime and when they have a rash. Currently I am looking into changing all my cleaning products to something with less chemicals. I am going to try out using white vinegar for a floor cleaning. And using Melaleuca products for our soaps, etc. We also started recycling.
2. Eating healthier
This isn't just to loose weight it's really to become more healthy
3. Exercising 3x or more a week
Also to become more healthy with the benefit of getting in shape.
4. FHE once a week.
5. Becoming more efficient at my Visiting Teaching.
6. Eliminating the clutter in my home.
This is it for now. I may or may not add to it. It just depends.
Has anyone else done theirs? Do you want to share it with me? Leave me a comment about it.

Shimmy
I am trying something. It's called, "Shimmy" and it's on FIT TV it's a new exercise program. Belly dancing. It's a lot harder than it looks. I record the episodes then do them later preferably when Avery is taking her morning nap. As I learn on Monday it's not pleasant when she's awake. I must get back into shape at this point losing weight would be the bonus but my arms, legs and other extremities need some serious toning. I miss the days of spending 2 carefree hours in the gym 5 days a week. But I am determined to do something about it even if it is a slow process.
My goal is 3 times a week. That's not a lot it's doable. Some kind of cardio then a little weight training and some abs. I can do this, I can do this. I really need to do this for myself not for anyone else so I don't feel like an frumpy out of shape mommy.
***********************************************************
Now for some random thoughts
Ok so I intended on staying home today to get my house cleaned for tomorrow and bake a pie. But it's nearly noon and I have not even started on the cleaning or the baking. I am washing a load of laundry. Does that count?
I am having trouble getting motivated to clean this mess of a house that is always a mess no matter how many hours I spent picking up and straighten. It's hard being the only one that does this and it gets old.
Yes, there is a trip to the library and grocery store for the day. I told Aynslee we could go get some books. And I need bread, milk not to mention a few other things that can't be put off. Hopefully, the store I plan on going to won't be to crowded. I will have to pay more for the items but less of a crowd is worth a little more money. Right? I almost forgot a trip to the bank.
My tummy is telling me that it's time to eat some lunch.
Until next time..............
