One day this week the housekeeping staff knocked on the door and left us with a new hotel guide. It has a base map, lists of restaurants in the area, etc. I was flipping through it when I noticed a page that said church services. The 3rd one down said, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints meeting held in the church annex building Weds and Sundays with the times. I showed it to Josh.
It took us awhile to figure out where the building was the map wasn't that clear to me at first.
So yesterday we got up got ourselves dressed and headed out to go to church. When we got there no one was there except a sailor in uniform talking on his cell. The room that was posted on the information we were to meet in had book shelves and a few couches. But we waited, it was getting late and we thought no one was coming. The times on the information was wrong. Finally the missionary couple that is over the military base came. The rooms had been moved so the men set up the room. And we proceeded to have a short sacrament meeting with 7 members in attendance plus the missionary couple 9 in total.
I have never been a part of such a small group of Saints meeting together before. It brought my mind to the early day's of the church's reorganization when numbers were so small and the people were so dedicated. The meeting consisted of the sacrament being administered and passed, a few hymns sung and a talk, about 30 minutes in length. I was so grateful for that experience, how warm the missionaries were and the dedication of those in attendance. They were all a lot younger then Josh and I. I would say not over 20 years old. And they were all in uniform.
It's another testament that the gospel is true. That the Lord calls His people to go forth and prepare a way for His children. That no one is left behind if they just seek for what is true and righteous.
