Puerperium

Since this blog has a little to do about knitting, I thought I'd post my latest project I knitted up. It was suppose to be a gift for a family member but I loved it so much {and it fit monkey} I decided to keep it and knit up another for the gift. This is a Ravelry free pattern. Puerperium.

I used TLC cotton with a circular needle 6.25. I love how easy and quick this was to knit.

Simple enough for a beginner. I think even the novice knitter would enjoy knitting this one up.
I have a thing for buttons.
I like the darker color of these and how they add a little something to the sweater.

The Great Pumpkin

I actually found time to knit this little pumpkin hat for Monkey.
It's it cute!
or is it the adorable baby that makes the hat cute :o)
Those fabulously cute strips on his legs are Babylegs.
Love them!
Those are the candy corn ones.

I'm a test knitter!

I follow this one blog called Never Not Knitting. I've seen her post things about getting samples back from her test knitters. I wondered how one goes about becoming a test knitter.

Well a friend of mine {she's local and fellow navy wife} has started designing patterns. I was delighted {and honored} when she asked me to be one of her test knitters for her very first written pattern.

I wish I was more productive with my knitting lately. Usually I'd already have it done. Between all the appointments I have and running errands and the usual things I have to do on a daily basis I haven't had much time to devote to my knitting.

However, it is coming along rather nicely and it's a wonderfully, adorable pattern.

I can't wait until she posts about it on her blog!

Knitting......

Since this blogs title had to do with knitting here are some knitted things for you to see.

This is a wool soaker in a Newborn size. I love the yarn combination on this one.
This one is the same pattern just in solid red.

And this is a bumble bee beanie that baby Cinderella is modeling.
I had to adjust the pattern since it for a preemie, which wasn't hard to do.
I was pretty excited about how it turned out.
The pattern came from a book I had recieved from a friend for my b'day last year.

I've lost my MOJO

My knitting MOJO that is, with all the business of the past 2 weeks I haven't picked up my needles. I feel a little lost since I"m always knitting something. I have a list of things to work on but little to no motivation to work on them. I picked up an audio book yesterday at the library and hopefully I can find some time to sit down and knit while listening to the book. IT's a good way to get two things done at once. We've gotten auto books for the car before but I've never listened to one while knitting. We'll see how that works out.

Hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year!

Feeling the Chill....

It finally happened on Friday the chill of Fall set in, I'm going to enjoy it while I can cause it will warm up again later in the week. I can't describe how much I love this weather. I didn't realize that I'm really a fall person until this year. I've always loved this time of year. But I really noticed this year that I  NEED to live in a place where the climate is actually cool in the fall and that on Thanksgiving day it's crisp and cold not a high in the upper 70's or low 80's. Maybe one day the Navy will move us and I can get my seasons.

Friday I hosted a knitting get together, only two people showed up. I had a new lady come. I met her at church she's Sugar's primary teacher. She's really nice and she's a self taught knitter and she crochets. So our circle is growing. Can't wait to host the next one!

Oh yeah on Thurs I stopped in the Goodwill near our house to look for Sugar a bike. I had gotten Spice one at a yard sale a while back pretty cheap. Sugar has been riding it and it's to small for her. I scored on a $70. Barbie bike she's been begging for, it was only $5.99. It just need's training wheels. I also got her some long sleeved night gowns for $1.99. I need to hit up Goodwill more often for jammies.

Knitting Blogs

Lately I started googling "knitting blogs" to add to my reading list. But I found this awesome blog from Never not knitting. Go check it out. This little girl is just 12 and makes her own patterns.

Joli House

I've got some new things in the works myself. I'm not writing patterns but I've been busy knitting some new things. Pictures to come hopefully soon. But since some are gifts, I'm not sure I'll share them until after they have been gifted.

Knitting my way to Christmas

I'm still working on knit projects. Hopefully I will be done before Christmas so I can give them to the people who are to recieve them. Sadly the ones that need to be mailed probably won't make it in time. I'm still working on one and I have 4 more to knit that need to go to family out of state.

I'll post pictures of everything I've made after they've been given. I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Knitting up a storm

After hitting a knitting rut, I have gotten back in the groove again. I complete a layette for my friends twin girls. It came out very cute. The buttons are my favOrite part. Sadly I forgot to take pictures.

I have about 50 things to make before Christmas. Well not really but there is a lot. Yesterday I started and finished a project for my nephew. He's 14, I hope he likes it.

My sister in law got me this cute knit book from the Dollar Tree of all places. It has lots of kids stuff in it so I'm going to make something from that book. I'll start it today.

Then I have a few more things to complete. Most all of the gifts we are giving this year I'll be making. We have a lot to buy for so this is helping me keep the costs down since I'm trying to save up some money. The best part is that for most of the projects I already had yarn to make them.

lazy afternoon

We are having a relaxing afternoon.

Aynslee is loving primary. She goes right in and sits with her class. She came home today singing songs she learned. I can't believe that it was her second Sunday and she is remembering all the words.

I got to take a nap, Yeah!

We had a nice visit on Friday with my brother and his girls. We hadn't seen them in 3 years. I know way to long. But hopefully with them living so close we will get to see them more often, we will be headed down to their house in a few weeks. My mom is going to be visiting at his house so we will go down to see her and their new house.

I am working on more babylegs. They actually came in handy this morning. Avery wore a pair over her tights. It was very cold here this morning. I didn't have any thick tights that matched the dress she wore. So I pulled out the babylegs and put them over, she looked pretty cute. The ones I am working on now are stripes, my own pattern. I haven't decided what I am going to make for my friend yet. There are to many cute patterns to choose from, and since this is her second little girl she doesn't need a lot. I like to make gifts for friends when I can, it's more personal.

Hope ya'll had a great Sunday!

one of those days

Do you ever have one of those days?

When you wish it were bedtime already?

For some reason both of the girls were very clingy yesterday. They had to be either sitting on me, climbing on me or sitting right next to me. Arg! I love my girls but sometimes I need some space. I have shadows when I go to the bathroom. If I leave them room they are running after me. Last night I went into my room while Josh finished up dinner with them. Not a second past before Aynslee was at the door knocking, "Mommy, can you come out?"

Lately even bedtime doesn't mean a moment to myself. Neither of them have been sleeping well and waking up at least once a night. Avery has been having a hard time going to sleep. I am sure it will pass, I just hope I can stay sane before it does.

I finished the book I was reading.

"The Host," by Stephenie Meyers.

I really, really liked it. Which surprised me since I don't realy SciFi, but she just has an awesome way at story telling.

I started reading another book last night that a friend loaned me. Now I am thinking I should have picked a different book. IT's a little to heavy of a story for me right now. I might put it down for now and start something else. Josh started, " the city of Embers" last night but I am sure it wont' take him long to finish it. It's not very thick. I might go ahead and start, "InkHeart." But I must finish some knit projects first, I have been working on a pair of pants for like 2 weeks. Way to long for me. I can have something like that finished in a week or less sometimes a few days.

Ok, I didn't get much done yesterday since I was reading all day. So I am off to be productive for a little while.

baby legs

This is my attempt at the ever so popular baby legs.
I came into this trend a little late
Knit Purl Mama was nice enough to find this pattern for me
Once I taught myself how to use double pointed needles,
it was an easy an fast project.

I know it looks like she likes them in this picture.
However; when I put them on her cute little legs,
she tells me to take them off.
Aynslee likes them and she can wear them as leg warmers
with a skirt or a dress.
I have currently made 2 pair, the ones pictured
and a pink pair.
I am working a on a black and white pair now.
