all tuckered out

The other night some friends watched the girls,
so Josh and I could go out and see a movie.
Thank you again!!!!
She has so much fun at their house.
It took her no time to fall asleep after we got home.
I thought it was cute.
Note: The binki thing, it's for attention.
She asks for one at night to go to sleep with.
But she doesn't use it right,
it stays in her mouth long enough for
her to fall asleep then it comes out.
I am humoring her because it makes bedtime alot
less stressful if I let her.
And by the end of the day I need the quiet time.

falling asleep

Somewhere there is a picture like this of me.
Asleep in my moms rocking chair at about the same age.
It was around naptime, I had already put Avery down this particular day
and was waiting to put Aynslee down.
When I noticed it was really quiet, I walked into the living room
and found her in my rocker asleep.
She even had covered herself up like that.

long night................

I was finally able to get to sleep at 2:00am. Avery has a terrible cough which sounds a lot like the croup. I noticed it yesterday morning after she woke up. She went to bed last night without a problem but woke up around 11:00pm. Her and I moved into the guest room so we wouldn't bother Josh. We got out the humitifer but it didn't seem to help her. She was very restless and had a hard time sleeping. Until I finally rocked her and laid her down in her own bed. At that point I got in Aynslee's bed since she had moved into our room on her mattress. I slept until 6:40am when Aynslee woke me up. She did go back to sleep but woke me up at 8:00am throwing up. While I was getting her and my bed cleaned up Avery woke up.

It looks like its going to be a long day too...............

it's all about the birthday party

Yesterday the topic of the day was Aynslee's birthday party. Ever since Avery's it's all she can talk about, the cake, singing, etc. Well, I had gotten a catalog in the mail, you know one of those birthday ones. She found it and started looking at it. When I saw her with it I told her to pick what she wanted to have for her party. She picked, Mickey Mouse Club House. Then started talking about bubbles and balloons. ALL DAY LONG. That was intermitted with, "Is daddy home yet?" I mentioned having her party in the back yard so then it was in the back yard, with bubbles and balloons, Grandma, Gran and Papa, did I mention this went on ALL DAY LONG. Between Avery's screaming because she fell down or she was looked at the wrong way. Then when daddy finally got home we went over all of it again and daddy got in on planning the party. Let's just say we will be well prepared for this party when June gets here.

Avery's new thing is going over to the gate that leads into the kitchen and screaming. IT means, "I am thirsty!"or"I am hungry, so feed me right now!" I am very seriously considering not torturing myself today and staying home from storytime. Just to avoid any outbursts from Miss Avery. I guess we will see how the morning progesses. She did sleep for 12 solid hours last night. If mommy had only slept a good portion of that.

Aynslee's new thing is sleeping in our room. However; not in the bed with us. When we took her crib down I took the mattress and put it in our bedroom. It's fits perfectly on my side of the bed between the wall and the bed. She slept on it while every one was here for Avery's birthday. The other night we had been reading before we went to sleep and I set my book down. I look and she is standing right there. Josh suspects she never went to sleep. She got into bed with us and started faking that she was asleep. We were asking her questions and she was answering them with her eyes tightly closed. He asked her if she wanted to sleep on the little bed. So we made it up for her. She slept there all night long. Only climbing up in our bed after Josh had gone to work. The night after that 1:30am I hear a knock on the bedroom door. I open it, "mommy I sleep you room?" I told her to go get on her bed again she slept there all night long. I don't remember what time it was this morning I did hear footsteps. I had left the door open so she could just come in. I noticed her laying on her bed at some point. And after Josh had left for work she climbed in bed with me. I know I will probably I get a lot of comments on how bad this is but it's a lot better than her being in bed with us. And if it makes her feel safe then I will continue to let her sleep there for as long as she needs to. I had a lot of trouble when I was little sleeping and either had to have someone stay in my room with me until I fell asleep or I slept on the floor in my parents room. So to me it's a compromise.

There are lots of things to be done today. Nothing exciting mind you but things to do all the same.

Until next time...................

the changes I mentioned.....

I know some of you are probably curious about the changes I mentioned in a post last week.

I think it's safe to tell everyone what that was about. While out for our moms night out with our playgroup. One of the moms mentioned how they started getting her 10 month old to sleep through the night. This baby is 8 days older that Avery, also named Avery. Anyway I thought oh how nice that would be but I can't let her cry. I came home said something to Josh about it. Then we contined on with our normal routine.

But the next night I tested it, I let her cry when she woke up after only sleeping a few hours. She went back to sleep but woke up every half our crying after that and kept me awake. So the next night I didn't have the monitor on in my room just the doors open. She slept better about 6 or 7 hours before waking up. I got her fed her and put her back in her bed.

We had 2 mornings last week when the girls woke up together in their room and played before I got up. It was so nice. Usually Avery will cry and whine because I have put her in the playpen at the foot of our bed to watch Baby Einstein so I can get another 20 minutes of sleep. But when she is in there with her sister they keep each other company.

I wish I could say that has continued, some nights she sleeps good other nights she up a few times. Last night was a decent night she was only up once before waking up for the day.

The other thing I started doing is having a set schedule for naps. Avery goes down at 10:00am every morning for a nap. Then at 2:00pm they both take a nap. This has been so nice because while Avery is taking her morning nap I exercise and get my shower.

I bet some of you were thinking it was something major but really I just didn't want to jinx our new sleeping arrangments. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that we will have more and more good night sleeping with less night wakings the more we stick to this routine.

Until next time...............

slacking

I am blaming the rush and business of the holidays on my lack of post writing. It's probably better known as "life."

Well, our second night didn't go so well with the new sleeping arrangments. She slept for 4 hours and woke up. I thought I'd try to skip that nursing session and just rock her back to sleep. She gets to upset to let her "cry it out." I am not a big fan of that anyway. We were up for an hour then she was awake 2 more times screaming by 2:45am. That's when I decided to just put her in bed with us so I could get some sleep.

However; that wasn't the plan Aynslee had she was up at 5:30am. Usually she will go back to sleep but she wasn't having it. I ended up getting about 4 hours of sleep since Josh's alarm kept me awak from about 4:30am until Avery woke up at 7:00am for the day. They did let me get a nice hour and a half nap. Aynslee slept for about 3 hours and Avery for 2 yesterday afternoon.

They both went to bed at the same time last night and it worked out well. So far the room sharing is going well. It better because it will be that way for a long time. That's what's nice about 2 girls so close together.

We have a playgroup cookie making party tomorrow morning and our playgroup Christmas party sat night. I am looking forward to it. The kids exchanged names and Santa will be there.

I need to get some stuff done since I was lazy yesterday. The only thing I did manage to get done was a shower and dinner last night.

beds.....

Well, we moved Avery back into the room with Aynslee last night. IT was weird. We put them both down at the same time but Avery wouldn't go to sleep. She had a late nap and didn't wake until 6:00pm. She finally went down at 10:00pm after I nursed her.I put her to bed awake and within about 10 minutes and no crying she was asleep.

Only problem was mommy sleeping, I had a hard time falling asleep at first. This is the first time since she was born she wasn't in the room with us. It's going to take a little getting use to. She only slept 4 hours. I got her and put her in bed with us like I usually do so she'd nurse and go back to sleep.

I just hope this works and she starts to sleep better so I can sleep better.

I guess she tired herself out bouncing with Tigger.

Wishing I could sleep late

The girls slept better last night but I still feel tired. Probably because I woke up a few times unable to get back to sleep. Avery is still sleeping as I type. Aynslee woke up at 6:40am. I reluctantly got up got her some milk and returned to bed. Only I wasn't able to go back to sleep so I got up to let Rory out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Josh has some days off after the 4th. We have been trying to decide what to do, I really don't want to stay at home. A friend of ours found a really neat lodge a few hours from here with lots of things to do. My husband wants to camp not stay in a nice air conditioned lodge. However; our state is under a burn ban due to do lack of rain we have received and forest fires. I personally cant' see going camping without a camp fire to ward off bugs and make smores. Smores are the only reason I go camping.

The draw back to all this wonderful trip planning is having a dog. She has to go somewhere on vacation so we can go somewhere on vacation. While we have no sinlge friends that can watch her for us we need to board her. Our favorite place is booked, due to the obvious reason it's also every one else's favorite place. I'll be forced to call the vets office. Rory has a great vet the staff is wonderful and they always take great care of her. A few months ago there was a horrible crime commited there. Someone attacked a staff member, rapped and killed her left her there for other staff members to find upon arriving to work. Ever since I have had not so pleasant feelings about going there. Is that silly of me? Any sort of crime like that has always bothered me but I knew who this person was. She was the only one our dachshunds liked there. She was friendly and always happy to see our dogs. What would you do?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to get off of here. I have some things to get done around here and I have an errand to run.

Until next time.................
